Inferno Stay Alive, Force Game Five

05/03/2008 8:55 PM - COLUMBIA, SC (Saturday, May 3, 2008) - The Columbia Inferno force a game five in the South Division Finals as they came back to win defeat the South Carolina Stingrays 3-2 in overtime.

Cail MacLean scored at the 17:35 mark of the first period as the Stingrays lead 1-0. After a scoreless second period by both teams, Jeff Miles netted his fourth goal of the playoffs on the power play with a wrist shot over the shoulder of goaltender Josh Johnson with assists from Reid Cashman and Peter Tsimikalis.  South Carolina's MacLean scored his second of the night at 14:41 to give the Stingrays the 2-1 lead. As the momentum switched when a penalty was called on South Carolina's Marty Guerin with 2:30 left on the clock, Daniel Sparre scored the tying goal at 18:51 to send the game into overtime.

Reid Cashman took a shot on goal at 2:27 as goaltender Johnson made the save but kick it in as the final score for the Inferno. Todd Ford earned the win for the Inferno as he stopped 30 of 32 shots on goal.

Game five of the South Division Finals will be in Charleston on Monday, May 5 at 7:05pm.
