04/28/2008 10:21 AM - N. CHARLESTON, SC (Sunday, April 27, 2008) - The Columbia Inferno dropped 2-1 to the South Carolina Stingrays in game one of the South Division Finals.
The first period remained scoreless as both teams skated with a lot of energy. The Stingrays took a 1-0 lead at 4:41 of the second period with a power play goal by Travis Morin. Daniel Sparre scored his fifth goal of the playoffs at 5:34 to tie the game for the Inferno.
Early in the third period, South Carolina took a 2-1 lead as Steve Pinnizzoto scored the game winning goal of the game.
Todd Ford faced 37 shots on goal stopping 35, continuing his strong play.
The Inferno will try to even the series as they travel back to North Charleston for game two on Tuesday, April 29 for a 7:05 game. Game three will be played on Friday, May 2 at the Carolina Coliseum starting at 7:05pm.
